Technology firms producing at least 40% of leads online are seeing median 2-year growth rate of 100%
National Study Highlights Online Marketing Best Practices Employed by Technology services Firms
RESTON, VA — June 6, 2012 — Hinge, a leader in branding and marketing for professional services, announced today that Technology services firms producing at least 40% of leads online are seeing a median 2-year growth rate of 100%, according to a new study released. In addition to presenting the research data, Hinge’s study demonstrates the transformation already occurring within the Technology industry by featuring two firms that are employing various online marketing techniques (Xtivia and Primepay).
This Technology study represents 49 firms with an average of $27 million in revenue and with an average of 180 employees; it is a subset of the broader professional services study where 500 professional services firms were surveyed. Online Marketing for Professional Services Firms: Technology Special Edition also revealed:
- Nearly 73% of Technology firms are planning to allocate more dollars to online marketing.
- The average firm in the Technology industry is planning to increase online marketing spending by almost 122%
- Technology firms are the clear leaders when it comes to online recruiting.
- While Technology services firms are utilizing some online techniques, they can benefit from implementing techniques used by high growth firms. These include: search engine optimization, blogging and content creation.

The Online Marketing for Professional Services Firms: Technology Services Edition national study also highlighted an expert panel of 20 online marketing leaders from across the United States to understand their use of online marketing techniques, how well these techniques help achieve business development and recruiting goals, and current practices and future plans. In addition, participants were asked about their firm’s growth and profitability. Respondents of the survey tended to hold senior level position with the firm.
